The Callum grape variety was considered for the Geographic Identification Terras da Beira and Denomination of Origin Beira Interior.

The Callum grape variety was considered for the Geographic Identification Terras da Beira and Denomination of Origin Beira Interior. Thus, fulfilling the defined criteria, Oleiros producers can now certify the wine from the Callum grape variety. This inclusion in the Beira Interior Wine Route is another measure that will help to disseminate the region’s wine even further. In this context, the Oleiros Council and the Comissão Vitivinícola Regional da Beira Interior signed, on 5 December, a partnership protocol aimed at promoting, above all, Beira Interior as a wine-growing region and wine tourism destination.

The protocol was signed during the Wine Tourism Conference which took place in Guarda, in a ceremony attended by the Vice Mayor of Oleiros, Victor Antunes, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, as well as representatives of the various local authorities that make up this regional promotion network.

Establishment of the Beira Interior Wine Route will allow for the creation of an organised and structured route that will foster networking, making the lands of Beira Interior more well-known. Likewise, it provides tourists and visitors with unique and memorable experiences, through the marketing, commercialisation, promotion, and enhancement of the winegrowing activity in Beira Interior and related areas, encompassing all tourism and cultural product of the region.
