The Ronqueira River Beach underwent extensive requalification works to improve accessibility. It is therefore an inclusive beach for people with reduced mobility or visual and/or hearing impairments. For this purpose, the beach provides dedicated parking, toilets and changing rooms, an amphibian chair and a lifting platform for access between the beach level and the bar, which was been lowered to allow access to all. The beach also has walking sticks, a walking frame and includes signs in Portuguese, English and braille, as well as large-scale information and pictograms, and an area for guide dogs and drinking fountains. It should also be noted that there is a picnic park in the vicinity, with tables and barbecue. The Multistage Route of Alva also passes through the beach.
Discover
At the municipal seat, visit the historic centre: the Chapel of Senhor dos Milagres, the Parish Church to Santa Maria Maior, and enjoy the renovated Sarah Beirão Garden, where the Tábua Cultural Centre is located. The Roman Bridge of Sumes, in the civil parish of Midões, and the Roman Way of Pedra da Sé, in Tábua, are among the Roman remains of the region. The climb to the top of the Pedra da Sé, a pronounced granite cluster, reveals a breathtaking landscape over the river Mondego. The municipality is also crossed by the rivers Alva and Seia, in addition to several creeks and other streams, notably the Rio de Cavalos, which become places of leisure and contemplation in Vale de Gaios and Sevilha, lined by old mills. Be sure to also explore Penedo Oscilante, better known as Penedo «Cabana», in Póvoa de Midões.
Taste and Take Away
Tábua's gastronomy includes notable delicacies such as Serra da Estrela Cheese (PDO), Tábua style busho, and fressura rice, goat chanfana or crackling cooked in wine, all paired with Dão Wine. The local sweets include the timeless Beira style tigelada, and the timeless Carolos of Vila Nova de Oliveirinha, but make the most of the opportunity to taste and take away some of the latest products of Tábua sweet-making: the Delícias de Tábua, Pastéis "Táboa", Queijadas Tabuenses and Brisas da Pedra da Sé.
