The viewpoint, which took almost a year to construct, is a circular platform with a diameter of 15 meters, anchored to the rock, installed 30 meters above the ground and 150 meters from the valley floor. The project bears the signature of architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, making it the only viewpoint in Portugal with his signature.
This site is part of the Naturtejo Geopark territory and is a waypoint for major routes and international trails, most notably the International Appalachian Trail, which traverses the Appalachian mountain range in the American continent. Essentially, walking the Appalachian Trail is treading on what was once submerged by the ocean.
