Lousã Council formalised the joining the National Inclusion Network promoted by the National Institute for Rehabilitation. The signing of the protocol took place during the 2nd National Meeting of the Inclusion Branch Network, in Alcanena, on 26 November.

The new service's mission is to provide information and specialised and accessible mediation to people with disabilities, their families, organisations and others who directly or indirectly intervene in the area of disability.

In the first phase, it is anticipated that specific training will be put in place for the borough’s agents that will be providing the service, to be set up in the Multi-Services Section at the Town Hall.

There, citizens can consult informative literature about rights and benefits according to the legislation in force and existing resources. The service will also carry out referral and mediation/awareness-raising with the various bodies that, within the scope of their mission, have experience in these matters, in order to solve problems.

Accessibility, priority service, medical certification of multiple disability, tax benefits, early intervention, independent living support, social benefit for inclusion, support products/technical aids, and social protection are some of the issues that can be solved there.
