The borough of Góis, in the district of Coimbra, at the heart of the Aldeias do Xisto area, is one of the five safest places to live in Portugal, according to National Geographic online. The announcement is based on data from Pordata - Contemporary Portugal Database on violence indices, and identifies the most and least safe places to live.
The borough of Góis is in 4th place, preceded by the boroughs of Torres Novas, Seixal, and Alvito. The 5th position belongs to Vila Franca de Xira.
"If you are looking for a new place to live in Portugal, Góis is in 4th place on the list of the safest cities in the country. Let yourself be enchanted by the rural nature of Góis, by the stunning landscapes, and the river beaches" the text reads. Aldeias do Xisto of Aigra Nova, Aigra Velha, Comareira and Pena, and the Serra da Lousã mountain range are also very popular attractions in the region.
According to the Global Peace Index 2019, Portugal is among the safest countries in the world. In a list comprising 163 countries, Portugal is in 4th place. Iceland, New Zealand, and Austria occupy the top positions in the ranking.
