The three river beaches of the municipality of Lousã, Bogueira (Casal de Ermio), Senhora da Graça (Serpins), and Senhora da Piedade (Lousã), were recognised with Blue Flag certificates, the maximum award for environmental quality.

This is the first year that Nossa Senhora da Piedade Natural Swimming Pool receives the distinction,awarded annually by the European Blue Flag Association. Environmental management, water quality, and user services and safety are some of the criteria taken into account.

"The awarding of these flags should be an additional stimulus for the work underway and that yet to be developed in the promotion of this magnificent countryside and its natural and heritage potential", considers the Mayor of Lousã. Luís Antunes also underlines the importance of this distinction for the "structuring and enhancement of the borough's tourism offer".
