The Blue Flag is a symbol of environmental quality awarded annually to beaches, recreational ports, and marinas that apply and meet a set of criteria. The certified Blue Flag beach Programme Criteria are divided into 4 categories: Environmental Information and Education; Water Quality; Environmental Management and Equipment; Safety and Services.
The Blue Flag Association makes an assessment at the beginning of the swimming season, monitoring throughout the summer to establish compliance with the requirements.

Quercus evaluations take into account rigorous analyses of the water, following analyses of the beaches in the last five years. The association demands that the results of the last year all be excellent to guarantee quality and reliability.
From this year onwards, the existence of possible environmental or landscape disasters on the beaches has also been taken into consideration when awarding the prize.
