From 1 to 3 May 2026, Seia, in Serra da Estrela, will once again be the epicentre of one of the most iconic trail running events in Portugal. Organised by Horizontes - Sports Tourism, OH MEU DEUS by UTMB celebrates 15 years of deep connection to the territory and definitively enters the world map of the sport by joining the UTMB World Series circuit, the most prestigious international trail running championship.
With more than 2,000 athletes registered, from 60 countries and five continents, this is much more than a competition: it is a physical, technical and emotional journey through some of Portugal's most authentic landscapes, crossing the Serra da Estrela, Serra do Açor and Serra da Lousã mountains, and passing through several Schist Villages, where nature and culture go hand in hand.
OH MEU DEUS by UTMB has five categories, three of which are already sold out:
- OMD 100M | 166 km
The flagship event connects the Lousã, Açor and Estrela mountain ranges in an epic crossing of the Central Mountain Range. Passing through the Schist Villages of Casal Novo, Talasnal, Candal, Pena, Fajão and Sobral de São Miguel, the route crosses forest trails, ancient stone paths and deep valleys, culminating in the climb to Torre (1,993 m), the highest point in mainland Portugal. The finish line is in Seia, after the descent through the impressive Loriga Gorge and passing through mountain villages and living heritage.
- OMD Viriato | Extra 40 km challenge
Reserved exclusively for athletes who complete the 100 miles in up to 34 hours. With no additional registration, this challenge tests absolute limits: an extra 40 km, up to a total of 44 hours. Those who complete it receive a symbol of recognition that celebrates courage, endurance and overcoming adversity.
- OMD 100K | 90 km (full)
Starting and finishing in Seia, the route passes through valleys, authentic villages, old tungsten mines, climbs the historic Rota do Pastoreio to the Tower and descends through the Garganta de Loriga, in a faithful portrait of the mountain identity.
- OMD 50 K | 50 km (full)
Starting in Loriga, it crosses ancient cobbled streets, historic villages, the Vertical Kilometre climb to the Tower and trails between waterfalls, centuries-old chestnut groves and glacial landscapes, ending in Seia.
- OMD 20K | 22 km (full)
A shorter but intense route through villages such as Vila Cova à Coelheira and Lapa dos Dinheiros, among forest trails, terraces, watercourses and emblematic landscapes of the Serra da Estrela.
