The Fado ao Centro project was launched in 2011 and its mission is to foster and disseminate the Coimbra style of Fado in all its aspects. Located in Quebra Costas, in the heart of downtown Coimbra, it seeks to provide unforgettable experience in every musical performance and to share its cultural and musical heritage with the rest of the world. The group's performances are a mainstay in the Aldeias do Xisto's entertainment calendar.
Fado ao Centro - Casa de Fado performs a live Coimbra Fado show every day, at 6pm.
At Fado ao Centro’s premises you can visit the Instrument Construction Workshop where the renowned and studious Luthier "Eduardo Loio" works all year round. Instrument building courses are held here (Portuguese Guitar, Viola, Cavaquinho, Mandolin). The Toeira style Viola Construction course has been prepared with special dedication.
The Fado and Portuguese Guitar School also operates out of the same facilities, where more than 200 students attend daily classes in Coimbra Fado Singing, Fado Guitar, Music Training and Classical Guitar.
