The application "Lousã, Heritage and History", presented by Lousã Town Council, won the Local Authority of the Year Award in the category Culture and Heritage - Heritage Conservation.

The application included several investments, among which the renovation of the Sra. da Piedade tourist complex and the Dr. Louzã Henriques Ethnographic Museum, which currently hosts the exhibition Lusitanian Agriculture, which is tunder the aegis of Aldeias do Xisto.

"These distinctions are relevant and motivating, and demonstrate the importance of the investments made. The projects included in this application have an added value, since it is not only a matter of the material value to our borough, but especially the preservation of a very rich intangible heritage made up of our collective history, our origins, our traditions", says the mayor of Lousã.

Luís Antunes adds that "investments in culture and heritage are a very relevant part of the Councils action strategy"  and points out that "other investments in this area are under way, such as the modernisation of the Cine Teatro da Lousã cinema and other projects for which funding bids have been made and the outcome awaited before starting the work."

The Local Authority of the Year Award is an initiative organised by the Lisbon Awards Group and the ECO newspaper, which recognises annually the best projects in several areas.
