Schist Villages awarded “Best Discovery Travel”

The travel program developed by the German operator Wikinger Reisen — ZuGast in den traditionellen Schieferdõrfern des Pinhal (Welcome to the traditional Schist Villages of the Woodland) was awarded Best Discovery Travel by the prestigious German magazine Geo Saison.For the Schist Villages Network this was clearly an award of major importance, since it underlines and reinforces the strategical commitment that ADXTUR — The Schist Villages Development Agency —, together with the Centro de Portugal brand, have been dedicating to the German market.
The story of this award goes back to March 2006 when, invited by the Centro de Portugal brand and in cooperation with ADXTUR, and the delegation of the Portuguese Tourism Board in Frankfurt, Wikinger Reisen came to the Schist Villages for a prospective trip. In two days, under an intense schedule combining several aspects, from accomodation to gastronomy and active tourism, it was possible to communicate the value that the Schist Villages brand can bring to the German market.
